When you are on the road as much as we are, you sometimes forget that there are always new things to discover at home. A lot changes, but just as many places and institutions have maintained their status over decades: FC Bayern, the beer gardens and the many hotel and restaurant classics. And yet, and especially in recent years, we are regularly surprised by the many trends that the city is picking up and shaping. The people of Munich just live it. You: “We are who we are”.<\/p>\n

Business Transportation<\/h4>\n

In terms of traffic, there is no easy way around Munich in many directions, and this gives the city regular traffic jams. Those who do not necessarily have to, should give up the car, take the bicycle or use public transport. And if you do need to use your own four wheels, then you better use one of the many Car-Sharing services. They already offer their cars at the airport and can be parked free of charge in official car parks throughout the city (parking fees in downtown Munich otherwise make you break out in a cold sweat). And if you have never been with a “grumbling” but helpful Munich taxi driver, you are missing out.<\/u><\/p>\n

Business Stay<\/h4>\n

The Bayerischer Hof and the Four Seasons are, in cordial enmity, the most established names in Munich’s hotel heaven. Yes, we also have a Mandarin Oriental and a splendid Charles Hotel in the city – but history still has a nose for it here. Yet the Four Seasons Kempinski Munich has been able to make a remarkable, modern leap in recent years. The restaurants are fresh, the banqueting area has an open kitchen, the service has been spiced up warmly and most of the rooms have been renovated. The “living room of Munich” is more than ever worth a visit. And what walks in and out of here is truly international.<\/p>\n

But also in other respects the casual and exciting modern age has just moved into Munich in terms of hotels. Be it with the colourful 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian at the main station, which in its lobby with its elephant fountain and show stairs invites you to lounge around in the caf\u00e9 and enjoy babaganoush in the Neni (photo). Or it could the new Roomers Munich with casual-light chic including a bright red hidden room and Japanese fusion cuisine. Or luxury announcements like the new Beyond by Geisel with a direct view of Marienplatz.<\/p>\n

Since September 2018, there is also a new pop-up concept in the city – the Hotel Krone directly on the Theresienwiese. Because Munich hotelier Alexander Lutz became a leaseholder faster than expected and plans for a five-star hotel were not yet ready, he is currently using it with an interim concept – and with that, just to live and let live. A small creative team has provided all 30 rooms with 30 themes such as white, newspaper or pop-up culture. A lounge has been created in the basement, which has already provided chilly after-wiesn experiences at the last Oktoberfest. Just try out the hotel before it is completely transformed for the big renovation.<\/p>\n

Business Food<\/h4>\n

We are often asked where best to go for a business lunch in Munich.<\/p>\n

When it’s warm, go outside in one of the many beer gardens. That’s what people do in Munich – business lunches under old chestnuts. A “half” of beer is even enshrined in the state constitution as food and has accelerated many a business deal in a relaxed atmosphere. Which beer garden? Well, there are so many … if you really like it honestly Bavarian, sometimes rough, but warm, relaxed and delicious, you should stop by the Augustinergarten around the corner from the Bayerischer Rundfunk. At noon the many regulars’ tables are also free, from 5 pm on there is seldom anything going on.<\/p>\n

The chefs’ hunt for as many stars as possible, golden spoons and their own Palazzo-style self-realization tents at Christmas time is not a bit slower in Munich than in other metropolises. One person who almost boasts of not taking part in this race is Manuel Reheis. For 25 years he has been cooking at the star level in the Broeding in the district of Neuhausen – without a star. One thing is clear: Every evening a six-course menu with wine accompaniment. Shane McMahon\u2019s nearby Goetheplatz is similarly exciting and relaxed. Shane, an Irishman with an Austrian mother, cooks here without any menu. For the guest this means: just say what they don’t like and trust a surprise menu that promises explosions of taste. That’s a promise!<\/p>\n

Other than that, what many people don’t know is that Munich is a Mecca for gastronomy founders. This is where Coffee Fellows were born, where the first “Hans im Gl\u00fcck” opened and where Dean & David developed – all of them now on the road to success throughout Germany. And many founders are involved in many other clubs and bars in the Isar metropolis. That really makes the city a colourful and exciting place.<\/p>\n

Business Quick Getaway<\/h4>\n

Anyone who wants to get away quickly ends up in the Upper Bavarian postcard idyll. The Bavarian monasteries especially are always worth a trip – and show their business acumen. There is hardly a flat-sharing community of clerical bachelors who do not try their hand at the secular marketing of their traditions. Andechs and Benediktbeuern are practically the “big players”. A small convent between Munich and Wolfratshausen (20 minutes from Munich) is a relaxed place to stay. The Sch\u00e4ftlarn Monastery still maintains the original monastic-innkeeper tradition. The Kraus family’s Klosterbr\u00e4ust\u00fcberl serves freshly shot game from their own hunt and Bavarian classics. Angus beef grows up around the corner in the countryside and is killed in a species-appropriate way.<\/p>\n

On the way to Tegernsee, approx. 40 minutes southeast of Munich, the gourmet will be pleasantly nervous at the time of arrival at the Seehotel \u00dcberfahrt. Here, Thomas Althoff has turned the conservative Dorint Hotel into an oasis of well-being on the lake. Of course, other hotels also offer a view of the lake, but they do not have a restaurant run by Christian J\u00fcrgens. What this three-star guy conjures up on the table is truly a show. And if you are lucky, you will be served the world-famous “Tegernsee pebbles” as a starter. Little tip: Some of them are real stones!<\/p>\n
