“If you’ve never visited Asia, Singapore is your first stop.”
Malays, Indians, Chinese, Europeans – all live peacefully together in the city-state, which is not even as big as Hamburg. The people here are extremely nice and friendly. You can simply let yourself drift through the many ethnic quarters. Singapore is clean, safe, exciting – but also relies on hard rules: Vandalism, drug smuggling etc. are punished drastically. Taxis are only allowed to stop at taxi stands, chewing gum is still not welcome, and rubbish should better be put away immediately, otherwise there will be trouble. But otherwise? A great city – really!
Business Stay
Travelers can choose from hundreds of hotels, depending on their budget. I love staying at the newly renovated Pan Pacific Hotel. Make sure you get a room upstairs. Then you can enjoy the fantastic view of the city from the bathtub through the panoramic windows.

Business Food
You don’t need to be brave to experience exciting pleasure adventures in Singapore, just curious. I prefer to eat in the so-called Hawker Stables, which are covered street food gourmet temples. Hundreds of stalls, fresh dishes (very often well guarded family recipes) and cold tiger beer to go with it. You must try this Hawker: East Coast Food Center, 1220 East Coast Parkway 468960.
The most legendary chicken rice can be downloaded from Nam Kee Chicken Rice, 201 Upper www.hungrygowhere.com It has everything to make you full and happy.
Business Afterwork
An evening at 28 degrees, a drink and a breathtaking view of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel with its lagoon: My favourite romantic spot is the Lantern Bar f the Fullerton Bay Hotel. Here you can lose your heart.
Since the legendary “Indochine Restaurant” on the river has closed, unfortunately only the branch on Club Street remains. Which means: On Fridays and Saturdays the whole street near Chinatown is closed for all the party people. 47 Club St, Singapore 069424.
Philip Bischoff, Berlin hipster bartender, stands behind the counter of the Manhattan Bar at the Regent Hotel. Heavy oak, deep armchairs and a great, classic bar menu. Saturday “All you can drink” brunch. The bar has just been named one of the top 3 bars in Asia.
Kai Böcking …
is himself a Leo (the zodiac sign) and maybe this is the reason why he loves the lion city Singapore so much. He has explored the metropolis several times in the last six years and each time he finds that he has to come back again and again.
