Hong Kong – Explore the Great Outdoors

Hong Kong is surprisingly green: two-thirds of the territory consists of forests, uninhabited areas and more than 240 islands. The city offers a wide range of local recreation destinations, ideal for a break after meetings or conferences – from hikes through bamboo groves and bike tours with sea views to about 40 beaches.

Five highlights for nature experiences:

Tai Mo Shan: Hong Kong’s highest mountain (957 m) offers impressive panoramic views as far as the Chinese mainland.

Dragon’s Back und MacLehose Trail: these hiking trails lead to a green idyll –
right next to the vibrant city. Shek O Beach and Big Wave Bay attract visitors with sandy beaches and good water quality.

Sai Kung UNESCO Global Geopark: a tropical paradise with small islands,
turquoise waters and traces of Hakka culture. Beaches like Second Beach and Hap Mun Bay are popular destinations.

Lantau Island: In addition to the famous Tian Tan Buddha statue and the Po Lin monastery, the island offers highlights such as the Wisdom Path, Tai O Stilt Village and the idyllic Cheung Sha Beach.

Lamma Island: The island is ideal for active recreation with hiking trails,
mountain bike routes and beaches. It is also known for its seafood cuisine.
