Hong Kong’s art scene reflects the city’s multifaceted history and shows how strongly it is shaping the global future of modern art. From important museums to vibrant street art – more than a thousand years of Chinese tradition have lead to enormous diversity. As an important Asian trading hub, Hong Kong attracts international artists, gallery owners, and collectors; since 2013, the city has been one of the locations of the renowned Art Basel, alongside Basel and Miami Beach. Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 will take place from March 27 to 29, 2026.
Creativity and culture are particularly vibrant in Old Town Central – one of the oldest and most dynamic neighborhoods. Here, temples, historic buildings, modern galleries, boutiques, street art and traditional restaurants merge into a diverse cultural mosaic. Around Hollywood Road, an inspiring mix of antique shops, art venues and colorful murals unfold.
Another strong cultural center is the West Kowloon Cultural District. With the M+ Museum of Visual Culture, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, open waterfront promenades, and spacious event areas, it is a hotspot for modern art, performance, and design. Festivals, open-air programs, and international exhibi-tions make the district a magnet of creativity for visitors from all over the world.
