Thailand launches Workation programme

Workation is currently the easiest way for employers, employees and the self-employed to work domestically. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has just launched the campaign ‘Workation Thailand for only 100 baht’.”

Promoting workation in one’s own country with vouchers – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has set up a special section on the official TAT website workationthailand.tourismthailand.org with a list of special offers for travellers. As part of its “Workation Thailand for only 100 baht” campaign, the TAT is distributing 100-baht vouchers (100 baht: approx. 2.72 euros) to Thai digital nomads and remote workers, which can be redeemed for a selection of tourism products and services. The vouchers will be made available on specific days (6 June, 7 July, 8 August, 9 September).

The Tourism Authority of Thailand had already implemented a similar project in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. The new campaign, which is supported by several travel and tour operator associations in the country, aims to boost domestic travel again, especially during the week. At the official presentation a few days ago, Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, the TAT’s deputy governor for the domestic market, emphasised how much office work in Thailand had also changed in the sense of working from anywhere.

Under the Workation heading, the TAT has just launched a programme for foreigners as well: Especially for foreign filmmakers, the programme “Thailand – Amazing Workation” offers tourist offers for leisure activities during filming, in addition to significantly increased subsidies for film productions in Thailand and income tax exemption for foreign actors.
