In addition, there are two public winners.”
More space, more cosiness, own kitchens – serviced apartments are among the most sought-after accommodation alternatives to classic hotels worldwide, at least since the pandemic. A jury of experts consisting of serviced apartment agents, developers, architects, investors and trade journalists has now chosen the Top Houses 2022 in the German-speaking region and awarded them a few days ago at SO!APART in Leipzig in the Felix Suites on Augustusplatz.
SO!APART is considered the segment’s most important trade conference in the DACH region and has been hosted by Anett Gregorius, founder of Apartmentservice, since 2013. The Berlin-based company has specialised in brokering and advising serviced apartments for over 20 years.
In the category “the small finer ones” …
… with a maximum of 50 serviced apartment units, the SO!APART Award 2022 was won by Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. Opened in 2019, it is the Irish Staycity Group’s first property in Germany and has quickly become a gem in Berlin with its spacious, homely apartments.
In the category “big and grand” …
… the Australian Adina Hotels won the aparthotel category with their Adina Hotel Munich in Munich. The newly built high-rise on top of a former potato silo in the exciting factory district has been one of the most spectacular hotels in the metropolis since 2021.
Among the serviced apartment buildings, which often have no gastronomy compared to the aparthotel, the Rioca Munich Posto 3 in Munich won the coveted trophy. “Whether it’s surfboards on the walls, graffiti and BBQ on the roof terrace, swings in the rooms and Brazilian chocolate bars made by Brazilian staff – the company founder plays his love of Brazil to the hilt in the new brand,” says Anett Gregorius.
Best Newcomer ..
… is The Place in Herzogenaurach. “In the home of Adidas, Puma and Schaeffler, The Place has become a modern temporary home for employees from all over the world since July 2022 – with a plaza concept on the doorstep, roof terraces, store and modern-chic serviced apartments,” says Sylvie Konzack, jury member and editor-in-chief of Bleisure Traveller.
In the category “sustainable and special” …
…. the Koncept Hotel Neue Horizonte in Tübingen took first place. Jury member Henrik von Bothmer from Union Investment praised the group’s all-embracing sustainability claim. Apartment projects like these represent the growing number of sustainability activities in the serviced apartment segment.
For the first time, a prize was also awarded for the best residential concept, i.e. temporary stays of more than six months are also possible here. The winner was the Splace Business Apartments in Wolfsburg, realised by VW Immobilien. The automobile company welcomes its employees here, but also any other guest.
In the public awards, the Weekly Boardinghouse in Lohr am Main and the Brera Serviced Apartments Frankfurt West in Frankfurt collected the most votes via online voting.
Finally, a special project was chosen this year with the Special Award: The prize went to several actors around the #everybedhelps initiative for refugees from Ukraine – first and foremost to Florian Wichelmann of Nena Apartments, who as founder brought together around 70 serviced apartment operators to provide free apartments.
