What do employees really want? How are providers and destinations positioning themselves? And what policies, processes, and offerings are needed to ensure that blended travel operates in a way that is economically successful, legally compliant, and sustainable? The first Blended Travel Summit aims to provide a roadmap for travel managers, event managers, and HR professionals, as well as academia, hotels, destinations, and all providers of relevant solutions. On July 14 and 15, 2026, in Frankfurt at the Best Western Welcome Plus Hotel Frankfurt, the focus will be on insights into bleisure/blended travel from an academic perspective, current study results on travelers’ needs and the status quo among providers, best practices from companies and destinations, and networking.
Sustainable business travel that puts travelers first
“For many years, Germany has been one of the top destinations worldwide for business travel and attending meetings, conferences, and conventions. This leading position offers enormous potential to encourage national and international guests to extend their stay beyond the actual purpose of their trip,” says Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of the GCB German Convention Bureau, which founded Blend_it! last year together with the business travel association VDR. “Blended Travel can only succeed if companies, destinations, and providers work in harmony,” says VDR Managing Director Jens Schließmann. “Our summit brings these stakeholders together to enable sustainable business travel that puts the traveler at the center. In doing so, Blended Travel combines efficiency with sustainability: ecologically responsible, economically sensible, and socially valuable.”
