Post-season workation in Sardinia

“A little trip to the ‘Caribbean of Europe’ in the uncomfortable autumn? For my marketing planning in the nerve-racking fourth quarter, I ‘escaped’ to the new 7Pines Resort in Sardinia.” Nina Heyd, Founder of Capulet Jewelry

The description “Europe’s Caribbean” already fits when landing in Olbia. Here, in October at 20 degrees, we are greeted by kilometres of white sandy beaches, turquoise water, a spectacular mountain landscape and the very special late autumn light of Italy.

The hotel shuttle service picks us up without a hitch. After about 35 minutes, we drive into the grounds of the 7Pines Resort Sardinia. The five-star hotel on the north-east coast of Sardinia only opened in summer 2022 and evokes summer holiday feelings even in autumn shortly before the hotel’s season ends.

The welcome at the reception is cheerful, the reception in the room affectionate. I also notice as soon as I arrive: the Wi-Fi works flawlessly and quickly throughout the resort. My work schedule from tomorrow with streams and calls to different countries will apparently work smoothly. I still have to finish the marketing planning for the last quarter of the year and hope that this will be easy for me from here.

For the moment, however, the two of us enjoy the various bars and restaurants in the hotel: the Capogiro offers the opportunity to enjoy Sardinian and Italian cuisine with a panoramic view of the sea. The walk afterwards through the spacious, leafy grounds to the Cone Club holds a dreamlike view of the sunset.

Training in Sardinia

The very next morning, another highlight emerges: the 7Pines breakfast. I love extravagant and extensive breakfast variations and am thrilled by the variety of healthy breakfast highlights at the resort. Italy is not necessarily known as a country of breakfast lovers, and vitamins are often frowned upon. The resort seems to make a great exception here.

My heart also beats faster in the gym or gyms – two free-standing glass buildings surrounded by greenery and right next to the Laguna pool complex. The studios are equipped to a top level, which allows me to keep my fitness programme very focused through the many calls. In addition, a yoga session in the Laguna area is tempting – as we visited the hotel in low season, the whole atmosphere is extremely relaxed and quiet. The same goes for the Pure Seven Spa, which is set around a lushly planted courtyard.
But of course the island has even more to offer. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has a diverse flora and fauna and offers glamour and jet-set vibes, mainly on the Costa Smeralda, as well as plenty of enjoyment and culinary delights.

The hotel provides e-bikes for short tours and explorations in the area. At the moment, some things are already closed, but for our short workation trip from Munich, this means the perfect concentration on the essentials.

Simply rest

Tranquillity and concentration – for me, this is the main theme of this trip and exactly what I was looking for. In the entire resort area, the quiet and discreet design is striking. No loud music, no gimmicks like in other resorts of this size. The focus here is on design and details like the small niche areas of the wine bar.

My favourite working spot is quickly becoming the Terrace Bar, preferably in the morning after breakfast. In contrast to many other hotels, there is no hectic atmosphere here and I can work extremely calmly and focused at any time. The whole thing in front of a dreamlike backdrop with the perfect cappuccino between the calls.

Conclusion: This is how Bleisure Travel works in autumn

All in all, the stay was absolutely enjoyable for me, as true Bleisure and Workation Travel is made possible at 7Pines. Fast internet throughout the hotel, extremely friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and a top modern equipped gym gave me three wonderfully focused days of work.

The quietness may have been due to the off-season timing of my stay, but it made for an extremely efficient stay in a spectacular setting of a beautiful resort in exceptional autumn light.
