„Read more again while travelling? Between appointments, during the workation stay, across the board via e-book flat rate? Bleisure Traveller launches an editorial cooperation with Skoobe.”
Harari’s brief History of Humankind during the project month in Miami or the Poe back then during the trekking tour in Tyrol after the business meeting in Vienna – you often associate a book with a particular trip. And the content is remembered even better than if you had read the book at home. Thanks to the famous context and change of perspective, as well as the time, relaxation and inspiration that are renegotiated during “new-work trips”.
Skoobe, itself from Munich, got in touch with us and offered to regularly share special Bleisure and Workation reading tips with our readers. Founded around ten years ago, the company collects more than 300,000 e-book titles and several 10,000 audiobooks under its app umbrella; new releases, bestsellers, classics and non-fiction gems are additionally uploaded every week. Over 4,800 publishers supply their titles, including Aufbau, Penguin, Rowohlt, S. Fischer, etc. The Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, the Penguin Random House publishing group and Thalia Bücher GmbH are shareholders in Skoobe (backwards: e-books) itself.
No limit, many languages
The charming thing is that all titles are available online and offline on Android smartphones and tablets, iPhone and iPad as well as on Kindle Fire tablets worldwide – including thousands in English and several in Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, French, Turkish, Dutch and Russian. And all of them can be accessed freely via a flat rate. This leaves plenty of room for discovery.
There is a choice of fiction, non-fiction, guidebooks, children’s books and books for young people. In addition, there are numerous overviews of new publications, theme worlds and recommendations from the editorial team. And this is exactly where we will now exchange editorial ideas: Skoobe will create special topic and title suggestions for us. The Bleisure Traveller reports in guest articles on the Skoobe blog about what is special about bleisure and remote work travel and about individual book experiences. In addition, all newsletter subscribers can use an exclusive discount code, which is worthwhile after the obligatory 30 trial days and also includes an exclusive listening subscription.
So here goes. Because we think: New Work journeys make for wonderful new intensive reading. Soon we will have our first reading recommendations here.
