“New Zealand no longer wants to be just a backpacker’s paradise, but also a remote working one as well. Holders of a visa or e-permit are now allowed to work in the country without any problems. Kazakhstan is also opening up to this and has introduced the Neo-Nomad visa.”
Since 27th January 2025, in New Zealand (photo) almost all holders of a visa or the electronic travel authorisation -NZeTA, which is valid for 90 days for German, Austrian and Swiss citizens, for example, have been allowed to work in New Zealand’s without any problems. However, the employer must be based in another country. Furthermore, the services provided must not be offered to New Zealand companies or individuals, and the assignment must not require the employee to be physically present at a workplace in New Zealand.
Kazakhstan has just extended its visa offer to include the “Neo-Nomad Visa”. Foreign nationals who work independently and combine their professional activities with travel can easily stay in the Republic for up to a year. The visa is a B12-1 category visa, which can be applied for the first time through the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and can then be extended for a further twelve months upon application to the Ministry of the Interior. Nationals of all countries who are gainfully employed abroad, can prove a permanent income from foreign sources and have health insurance are entitled to it. Spouses and children also receive a visa for the same duration.
