South Africa has its own remote work platform

“The South African regions of Cape Town and the Western Cape are increasingly positioning themselves as a destination for remote work and have launches their own portal.”

Since summer 2021, Wesgro, as the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, has offered its own portal for remote work. This sees itself as a central online information platform for questions and opportunities on the topics of Stay, Work and Move Around and brings them together for the first time. Providers who can register here present their long-stay and co-working options on the website, among other things. In addition, environmentally friendly offers are shown for trips to the surrounding area.

The portal is part of the ongoing remote work campaign for South Africans as well as international visitors to establish the Cape Town and Western Cape as a hub for topics such as remote work, workation and bleisure travel.

“The Western Cape has everything it needs to be the best remote work location in the world if we remove the red tape and roll out the red carpet for digital nomad tourists,” David Maynier, Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunity, is convinced and also advocates for special remote work visas.
